I'm just a fucked up girl who is looking for my own peace of mind.
first, you'll notice that in my own writing, i don't use capitalization. yes, i know how to do it. however, it's painful enough sometimes to type w/out adding in the extra step of capitalizing.
so it's almost 5 am. i'm awake. that's nothing unusual. i'm a night owl. recently, i accidentally deleted the bio i'd written (and had use for a few years now), so i've finally decided that i need something here besides the quotes. i think i've chosen quotes that do a good job of representing my opinons on the state of the universe, but sometimes, you just have to think for yourself.
who am i? i'm a loner. i'm a night owl. my inner child (who is a teenager, i think) is a goth, though i look waaaay too average jane america for someone to suspect that. i'm passionate about knowledge. always, i've got a few new interests that i'm reasearching for my own enlightenment. i used to frequently define myself by my job, but as of june 2, 2007, i'm no longer a teacher. after ten years, i had to give it up. at the moment, i'm home, resting, and hoping for a speedy approval of my ssdi application. (approved september of 2008. whoohoo.)
i'm also a firm believer in having an open mind . yes, i know that some people have the opinon that "an open mind is an opportunity for your brain to fall out". however, i'm of the philosophy that "minds are like parachutes. they function best when open." i think there is too much of the unknown in the world for me to willingly admit to an absolute. all too often, the generalization will eventually have an exception. what is known as a definitive truth for one era is so often disproved in the coming ages.
i'm also known for having the "occasional" odd interest. it's ok with me if you don't decide that you need a foil beanie to match mine. the cardinal rule is this: you're free to believe what you want, but you must extend that courtesy to me as well. in short, your rights end when they begin to infringe upon my rights.
i'm also an ardent believer that the us government is rapidly becoming big brother. too many americans are passively standing by like so many sheep as freedom after freedom is taken away from us in the name of "protection"..and in the words of kurt cobain "just because you're paranoid, don't mean they're not after you."
so in summation: trust no one. the truth is out there. watch out for the black helicopters. the zombies are coming to get you. pack your bug-out-bag..and most importantly, don't forget your towel.
also, if any of this sounds interesting, or my journal has piqued your interest..feel free to add me. i'll likely add you back.
The Immortal Bill Hicks
Here is my final point. About drugs, about alcohol, about pornography and smoking and everything else. What business is it of yours what I do, read, buy, see, say, think, who I fuck, what I take into my body - as long as I do not harm another human being on this planet?
The war on drugs to me is absolutely phoney; it's so obviously phoney, OK? It's a war against our civil rights, that's all it is. They're using it to make us afraid to go out at night, afraid of each other, so that we lock ourselves in our homes and they get to suspend our rights one by one.
Go back to bed, America. Your government has figured out how it all transpired. Go back to bed, America. Your government is in control again. Here. Here's American Gladiators. Watch this, shut up. Go back to bed, America. Here is American Gladiators. Here is 56 channels of it! Watch these pituitary retards bang their fucking skulls together and congratulate you on living in the land of freedom. Here you go, America! You are free to do what we tell you! You are free to do what we tell you!
I don't mean to sound bitter, cold, or cruel, but I am, so that's how it comes out.
What does it mean when nightmares dream of peace? When shadows wish for light? - --Ink Exchange--Melissa Marr
God moves in extremely mysterious, not to say, circuitous ways. God does not play dice with the universe; He plays an ineffable game of His own devising, which might be compared, from the perspective of any of the other players, [ie., everybody.] to being involved in an obscure and complex version of poker in a pitch-dark room, with blank cards, for infinite stakes, with a Dealer who won't tell you the rules, and who smiles all the time. --Good Omens--Neil Gaiman, Terry Pratchett
Hamlet: There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy. --Shakespeare
Kat Stratford: Expressing my opinion is not a terrorist action. --10 Things I Hate about You
Paul Atreides: I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when my fear is gone I will turn and face fear's path, and only I will remain. --Dune by Frank Herbert
